If you are looking to generate blog traffic then you have a number of options that you can try. Some of these are free to utilise while others may cost you some money depending on if you outsource.

Firstly, I would suggest that you submit your site to the multitude of blog directories that exist on line. You can either do this yourself or outsource the work via GetAFreelancer or Odesk. Many of these directories will provide a link back to your site that will not only drive more visitors to your site but will also help add additional back links to your site that will in turn help the blog move up in the search engine rankings if the site is properly optimized.

You could seek out other webmasters that are in your niche or related niches and ask for a link swap or banner exchange. Link exchanges are not as popular as they used to be though due to the lack of link building power that reciprocal links now carry with Google but its still a good way to drive visitors to your site from other sites in your niche. The easiest way to find other sites that may be willing to swap links is through Google or to look in some of the big web directories link Yahoo or Dmoz.

A press release is a very good way to get more eyeballs on your blog and also more back links as well. There are a number of sites that you can submit your press release to that will then syndicate it to the different news websites online. If the press release is unique or different than it may even go viral and get picked up by some of the big news sites like CNN or Google news. A press release ideally needs to written in a specific way so I would suggest looking at some other press release and study the format.

Article marketing is a tried and tested way of driving more traffic to your blog. There are a number of popular article directories such as EzineArticles where you can submit articles and provide a signature with a link back to your own site that will drive visitors assuming they like your article.

Guest posting on other blogs in your niche is another good way to drive traffic. If you can create some buzz worthy articles in your niche then you could approach other blog owners and ask if they will feature it on their site with a link to your site. Many blog owners would like the fact you are offering free content and also you can a chance to show your expertise in your particular niche and attract potential customers. This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to generating free traffic to your site but if you focus on these methods I am sure you will see you blog traffic increase greatly over time.
